About Me

My Passion for Design

I have always had a passion for architecture and interior design.

As a child, our family would rent fishing cabins at various lakes for our family vacations.  I wasn’t very interested in fishing so I would entertain myself by sketching the floor plan and furniture plan of the rented cabin and then sketch how to make it more functional and beautiful.

I consider myself to be well-balanced between analytical left brain and creative right brain.  I may be the only interior designer in the area (maybe the only one in California!) who has both an engineering degree and an advanced  business degree in addition to my design education and credentials.  I am a technically capable businessperson with a great eye for design and a great love and respect for my clients and their homes.  I am dedicated to ongoing growth and development and invest time and resources in continuing to develop my skills and my business.   For example,  I recently completed a wood shop class, a contemporary art appreciation class and am in a year long program exploring what it means to truly partner with others in accomplishing big goals.

I love working with clients to make their home more beautiful and functional. When we meet at your home, I bring my product and design knowledge in styles from classic traditional to modern contemporary. I can show you samples of many of these items, their components and finishes so you don’t have to drive around the county or search the internet looking for that perfect item and still wonder if it will work.  I offer my design experience and my analytical skills to greatly reduce the risk of making a disappointing design choice.  Plus I leverage the skills of other talented specialists including paint color consultants, upholsterers, licensed contractors (painters, electricians, plumbers, wallpaper hangers, and general contractors) to complete the project.

My clients like my personalized service, custom designs, and my contractor network.  I think you will find that I am both fun and easy to work with. I am a great listener.  I learn how you would like to use the rooms in your home so I can design a space that is both comfortable and impressive.

I can suggest a budget range that will accomplish your goals and will honor what you are willing to invest.  No surprises.  I can work on small projects such as re-framing a bathroom mirror, adding a valance to an existing blind, or finding accessories to pull together a certain look.  I can also work on large projects such as window treatments, flooring, furnishings, lighting, wall coverings and accessories for an entire home.  We can do a ‘Big Reveal’ like you see on TV or do a series of ‘Little Reveals’ on your own budget timetable. Don’t worry, we don’t have to do it all at once. I am happy to stage the work over time.  I have been working with some clients for years.  As they are ready to take on the next space, I am ready to integrate it with what we have already accomplished together.
